06 - ON IMPERFECTION

Perfect symmetry has never been the goal.

When something is made by hand, the process remains visible. You can see it in a slight curve, feel it in the texture of the surface or notice it in the way a glaze settles differently from one piece to another.

There is something comforting about that.

We live surrounded by objects that are designed to be identical — the same shape, the same colour, the same finish. Handmade objects offer something different.

They remind us that making something well doesn’t always mean making it perfectly uniform.

A handmade piece carries traces of how it was made — the hand, the material and the fire.

And those small differences are often what give it character.

Perfectly imperfect.
